Journey

From travel support agent to AI-native builder

  1. Before June 2025

    The spark

A travel customer service agent with an IATA-backed diploma in business management. I loved the travel world, but one question kept nagging: why is travel tech so far behind on AI? That question became the obsession.

  2. Late 2023 — Early 2024

    The exploration era

Met ChatGPT as it landed in the African market. Burned by early hallucinations, I moved to Claude for research and validation, then went wide: image generation, voice tools, Suno, Producer AI, Blackbox, Perplexity.

I wasn't just consuming AI. I was learning how it learns — reinforcement, pattern matching, agent behaviour.

  3. Mid 2024

    From user to builder

Antigravity — one of the first public IDEs with AI agents — is where it clicked. How HTML files relate, how indexing works, how agents chew through repetitive work. My first site was grumpy: buggy, ugly, localhost-only. That frustration taught me deployment.

  4. 2025 — 2026

    Where I am now

Product Manager at Africa Travel Network, collaborator on Heri AI, seven sites live, four paying clients, and two hours a day still spent learning.

How I keep AI honest

  1. 01Run the same query across multiple tools.
  2. 02Check for consistency across the answers.
  3. 03Cross-reference against plain search.
  4. 04Test the code myself and learn from the breakage.

AI tutor philosophy

“Think of a prompt like a recipe. A vague recipe gives you bad cooking. Clarity is everything.”

I teach with empathy, everyday analogies and hands-on experiments. Start with why, not how — then test, break and fix things instead of fearing mistakes.

  • Start with the why
  • Use everyday analogies
  • Experiment before perfection
  • Teach ethics from day one

Beyond code

The parts that don't fit on a CV

Swimming

When I'm not coding I'm in the pool. It clears my head and keeps me disciplined.

Biggest failure

Trying to share a website that only existed on localhost. It forced me to learn deployment, Git and real hosting.

Proud of

Seven live websites from scratch, and a team that now uses AI thoughtfully instead of blindly.
